6/19/15: One more to go

The Yankees got swept in Miami. The Marlins got swept in New York. The Tigers are in town and Alex Rodriguez is only one hit away from history.

The Yankees did not play well against the Marlins in Miami. Then they returned to the Big Apple and played well against them. Perhaps it was the scent of Everything Bagels roaming around the city. In any case, the Bronx Bombers have a two game winning streak going for them as they welcome the Tigersinto Yankee Stadium for a three game series. A few years ago, the pitching match-up ofAdam Warren vs. Justin Verlander would have probably spelled doom for the Yankees. Today, all bets are off. Verlander is still in recovery mode and Warren, despite a shaky outing against the Orioles, has been one of the Yankees most consistent starters. Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of Warren and all that.
On the more historical front, Alex Rodriguez. After his two hits last night, A-Rod is only one hit away from his 3,000th hit. The crowd wanted it last night. It was the most passion you've heard out of Yankee Stadium for some time now. Between the slightly profane chants and the chorus of boos directed at Sam Dyson, it sounded a lot like the Yankee Stadium of old. It was nice to hear. In any case, A-Rod will go for history tonight. Whether or not it has an exclamation point remains to be seen.
